Michael is from Flint, Michigan. His interest in glass was ignited at a Junior High School career day demonstration. He started blowing glass at age 16, learning by watching others. After high school he attended college, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He came to Florida in 1972 for a two week vacation and never left. Living in the Florida Keys he soon found he could augment his construction job income by selling his art work. When his construction job ended he moved to glass full time. First selling wholesale and at flea markets. He then rented a series of small shops in Key West. The first was in 1975. His work reflected his location with his palm trees, dolphins, sail boats, sharks, and other tropical themes He moved from Key West in 2000 and now lives in Southwest Florida. His current work consists of mainly Fan Pulls, Drawer and Cabinet knobs, Lamp Finials and Sea Sculptures. click on the image below for a larger view.
