When
I was younger, I thought there would always be tomorrow. Yet
all my tomorrows passed like a faint whisper on the wind.
Before I knew it my two children, whom I had raised on my own
were gone, pursuing their own dreams and careers.
Dreams;
the stuff that drives a spirit, provides purpose to one’s day
and makes life exciting – I had forgotten what those were. It
seemed ironic that it would be my children who encouraged me to
pursue my dreams after they had ventured out on their own. “It’s
your turn mom,” they said.
Then with the help and encouragement from the love of my life I
was able to go back to college and get my degree. It was during
that time I rediscovered my love for painting – the dream I had
as a young girl.
I took every art class I could fit into my schedule and at times
could be found late at night in the art building finishing a
painting. I received so much encouragement from professors,
friends and classmates, and a new direction in my life began
before I even knew it.
Painting is such an important part of my life…it is the air that
I breathe, and what moves my spirit. When I thought time had
passed me by, I was re-inspired by my children and the man I
love. For all their support and inspiration they have given to
me, I hope in some way I return it to them.
Oils and acrylics are my choice of medium and I enjoy
experimenting with texture. I love sharing my work with others
and I hope my paintings touch the spirit of all who see them.
I encourage others not to try and “see” something in my
paintings, but to “feel” how the painting moves them. No two
people will see the same thing or feel the same. That’s what
makes each painting special to only you.
