A native of New England, Edie has studied art at Boston University, Western College for Women, Oakland University, Central Michigan University and Wayne State University. She has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia and incorporates hints of those cultures in her work. In addition, Edie has spent 1000’s of hours on the water, in New England, the Bahamas, Great Lakes and here in Florida. You will find that the experience of being a “Water Rat” has influenced her work with glass time and time again.
Glass had been her focus for over 35 years. She has worked with stained glass, primarily in the midwest, creating numerous pieces with her own designs. A desire to incorporate an additional dimension into the glass led her to begin fusing. Fascinated with the ability to add shapes by slumping and dropping, her works now reflect this added dimension. In addition, she has created an extensive line of engraved and fused dichroic jewelry pieces that reflect the colors, dimensions and beauty of Florida where she now lives.
Edie is constantly amazed at the uniqueness of fused glass, its vibrant color, its flexibility to assume shapes and forms and its response to kiln heat and cold work to generate an exciting piece of artwork.
