About Suzan Woychuk

Originally from Brooklyn New York, Suzan has spent the last 40 years living in the state of Florida. After graduating in 1983 with a doctorate in education and a minor in ceramics, Suzan taught art in the State of Florida for over 32 years.  She became Nationally Board Certified in the field of art education in 2002 and has shown and sold her art work since the 1980’s.  She has been working with clay since she was five years old.  Having lived in South Miami from 1975 through 2006, Suzan has had many opportunities to visit the Everglades and much of her artistic endeavors have been influenced by that experience. Most of her creations are made with high fire porcelain reaching temperatures of 2200 - 2400 degrees.  In the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew,  The United State Department of the Interior invited 10 artists to display their work at the grand opening of Biscayne National Park.  Suzan was one of the artist to receive that special invitation.   She has been creating large dimensional wall relief’s of Florida birds for over 25 years  Today she focuses on small and large Fantasy Fish sculptures as well as more complex coral reef displays.  Her expertise also includes the creation of detailed, native Florida birds.
