"Got Art? - How to Compete" - 

                         a talk by Robert Bendt and Norma Urban

Cost:  $45.00

Would you like to learn how to enter a juried art exhibition and increase your odds of getting in? The curators of a national art competition, Robert Bendt and Norma Urban, will be presenting this talk at WildChild Art Gallery.  This talk will provide the inside story of what is involved in selecting artwork for a juried exhibition. Come and learn both technical and practical issues that play an important role in deciding what art is accepted and what is not. There is no need to take notes, each participant will receive a comprehensive handbook to take home.


Glass Lampwork Sculpture & Jewelry - by Michael Dennis

Learn the art of Lampwork Glass and make wonderful pendants or sculptures. Various classes available - see below.  Class size is limited, call WildChild for more information and to register.  239-283-6006

Cost $68.00 plus $10.00 to $30.00 in materials.

  • Pendant Class I - Make and take two pendants

  • Pendant Class II - Make and take  dichroic pendants

  • Sea Sculptures - Make and take one or two Manatee and/or Dolphin

  • Tropical Sculptures - Make and take one or two Seahorses and/or Flamingo

  • Reptile Sculptures - Make and take one or two Frogs and/or Lizards

Pine Needle Basket Making  with Kathryn Erickson

10:30 am - 3:00 pm -- Bring your own lunch and beverage,

Cost:  $80.00 plus $10.00 in materials

Learn the intricate art of weaving with Pine Needles to create wonderful baskets. Please bring sharp pointed scissors, old dish towel, newspaper, bag and tie.


 

Flute Workshop - by Annie Wenz  Annie Wenz

 10:00 am to Noon

Learn basic techniques and some secrets to playing a Bamboo or Handmade Wood Flute. Cost of the Workshop is $65.00.

Bring your own Flute or consider purchasing a handmade flute by our Artist Ray Wood. For this workshop only we are offering a 15% discount on any of Ray's Flutes.


Liane Redpath - Silversmith

“Fabricate Your Own Metal Earrings”,

$120.00  plus materials, no experience needed. 

In this one day class you will fabricate 2 pairs of earrings.  One pair will be in copper where you will learn the art of working with a jeweler’s saw; steel design/texture stamps,  and the art of filing.  After practicing on copper, you will make a second pair in sterling silver. One patina will be used for coloration.  The skills learned in this class are the basics for working with metal.

  “Sterling Pendant”,

$120.00  plus materials, some experience preferred or having taken the previous earring class

With the skills learned in the earring class, you will design a pendant and learn how to incorporate a bail.  A little sparkle can be added to your work by learning how to solder simple pre-made bezels and add gemstones.

Calusa Art - lead by John Peano

This WildChild Workshop covers cabbage palm cording, basket and loom making. John will also tell stories about the area while everyone is working. The cost is $38 and you can make Palm Basketsreservations with WildChild Gallery by calling 239-283-6006. Bring a large knife. 
Time : 1:00pm to 3:30pm

$38.00 per person - 2 1/2 hours

 

 

 


Create a Garden Fairy Village-

        by Marty Kendall

Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm -- Bring your own lunch and beverage,

Cost:  $120.00 , includes all materials

Create fanciful organic "Fairy Homes" for your garden critters or to adorn a shelf indoors. Bring a hot glue gun, large bag of glue, scissors, clippers and paper towels
